POSITION OBJECTIVES: To provide data analysis and project management services for the Strategic Planning and Analytics Department, including collaboration with all business units to identify business intelligence, reporting, and data analysis needs and working closely with users and Information Technology to translate data into critical information and knowledge that can be used to make sound business decisions; to work with business units to determine business requirements and priorities, and define key performance indicators (KPIs); to design and document dashboards and reports; to provide support in strategic planning, rate tracking and planning, and risk mitigation strategies;  to provide leadership and independent initiatives in facilitating information gathering, structured documentation, and communication in a team oriented environment in accordance with the vision, mission, and values of the Cooperative.

 

MINIMUM JOB SPECIFICATIONS:

EDUCATION: Require Bachelor’s Degree in Economics, Statistics, Computer Science, Engineering or related quantitative field. Prefer Graduate Degree with course work in project management, statistical analysis, data mining, strategy, forecasting, or finance. Prefer CAPM (Certified Associate in Project Management) Certification, PMP (Project Management Professional) Certification, and/or PMI-PBA (PMI Professional in Business Analysis).

 

EXPERIENCE: Require a minimum of the most recent three (3) years progressive experience in a related field of business analysis, planning, statistics, forecasting or related technical experience. Require experience using quantitative methods to solve complex, analytical problems. Require a fundamental knowledge of relational database concepts as related to business information systems and a high level understanding of structured query languages and other information access techniques. Must be conversant in data storage methodologies and database design techniques in order to communicate effectively with Information Technology personnel to reach a mutual understanding of business data needs.

 

KNOWLEDGE: Require a working knowledge of the principles and practices in the areas of statistical and quantitative analysis, benchmarking, metrics and measures, and the development and tracking of performance standards. Require demonstrated ability to interpret business data and understand how data is transformed into information and knowledge and how that knowledge supports and enables key business processes. Require knowledge of data analysis and modeling tools to ensure model integrity and the ability to apply the models to business decisions.

 

SKILLS:  Require effective leadership skills, excellent communication skills, both written and oral, and the ability to work in a team environment. Require analytical and problem solving skills and the capability of constructive planning and organizing. Require the ability to handle, interpret and translate complex quantitative analysis, facilitate data collection between a broad variety of personnel and multiple departments, and write, review, and present final reports to all levels of the organization. Require the skills to work in a continually changing, customer-focused environment, and the ability to work effectively in a cross-functional organization.  Require excellent research, analytical, organizational, and mathematical skills.

 

 

WORKING RELATIONSHIPS AND CONDITIONS:

 

Reports to Vice President of Strategic Planning and Analytics

Directs: None

 

Internal: Actively participates within the Cooperative team environment to develop supportive relationships essential to the success of the functions of this position and to the overall Cooperative spirit.

 

External: Develops and maintains supportive relationships with member/consumers, the general public, and other external contacts to assure positive results.

 

This position is primarily sedentary work; requires visual acuity in machine operation with inspection; requires ability to hear, talk, and perform repetitive motions; and is not substantially exposed to adverse environmental conditions.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

 

  1. Designs and supports data-driven projects including implementation and use of business intelligence for decision making with respect to Jackson Electric Membership Corporation’s mission, vision, and values.

     

  2. Facilitates the collection, analysis, and organization of knowledge and data for use in all departments of the corporation to benefit the goals of the organization.

     

  3. Evaluates internal and external stakeholders’ needs in order to provide appropriate analytical solutions.

  4. Translates business needs into analytical project design and data-driven insight by manipulating large data sets and integrating diverse data sources. Performs statistical, quantitative, and qualitative data analysis to discover patterns, meaningful relationships, anomalies and trends to meet our employee and member needs.

  5. Communicates and engages with all departments to understand and analyze department-specific data and is available to offer recommendations based on the analysis.

  6. Designs and delivers end-user training and training materials for analytics tools that enable end-users to use the information effectively.

  7. Develops and manages a company-wide dashboard for tracking key performance indicators (KPIs) and financial goals to guide the advancement of Jackson Electric Membership Corporation’s mission, vision, and values. Facilitates discussion with all departments to assist in the development of department-specific dashboards.

  8. Coordinates with management group to identify market research needs to eliminate redundancy and ensure consistency across the organization. Serves as the point of contact for market research organizations, provides data to organizations when requested, and assists in the negotiation of services to meet the organization’s needs.

  9. Writes, reviews, and presents reports to all levels of management, both technical and non-technical audiences, to summarize analytic projects. Reports findings by creating useful and appropriate data outputs and visualizations tailored for the intended audiences.

  10. Assists in the refinement of procedures and models for forecasting with the internal Revenue Projection and Rates committees. Participates as a team member of the Revenue Projection and Cost of Service/Rates committees.

  11. Stays well-informed and participates in communication to identify areas of focus for risk assessments and impact analysis as it relates to company initiatives and emerging industry trends.

  12. Ensures that the CFO and the Vice President of Strategic Planning and Analytics are consistently informed of divisional projects and other major developments in order to facilitate the overall management and communication functions of the Cooperative.

  13. Ensures familiarity with and follows the best safety practices set forth in the Cooperative’s Safety Manual.    

  14. Attend and participate in annual meeting as required or directed.

  15. Perform such other duties as may be required or directed.
